After more than two decades in IELTS preparation, I’ve watched too many capable students stall — not because they couldn’t reach the band, but because the help available to them was generic, inconsistent, or delivered by people without deep IELTS-specific experience. Common questions
How are teachers vetted?
Every applicant submits evidence of at least 10 years' IELTS teaching experience, a government ID, and a written IELTS scoring exercise where they analyse two real student responses against the official band descriptors. Our team — led by a 21-year IELTS educator — reviews every application personally before approving a profile.
What does a lesson include?
Each lesson takes place in our in-product classroom — no Zoom or third-party software needed. The classroom includes live video and audio, a shared digital chalkboard, and a text editor for collaborative annotation. After the session, the teacher can leave a note and rate your progress by module.
How does the AI Writing feedback work?
When you submit an essay, Claude (Anthropic's AI model) grades it against the four IELTS Writing criteria — Task Response, Coherence & Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range & Accuracy — and produces a draft band score with rubric notes. A qualified teacher then reviews the AI draft, makes corrections, and finalizes the score. You always get a human-verified result.
What are the costs?
There is no subscription or membership fee. You pay per lesson, at the rate set by your teacher. Each teacher sets their own hourly rate; you can see pricing before you book. Payments are processed securely by Stripe.
What IELTS test types do you support?
EnglishPerfect is currently focused on IELTS Academic, which is the version required for university admission, professional registration, and most skilled-visa pathways. IELTS General Training support is planned for a future release.
